Art!

We did art today! When I was teaching years ago, I took some classes to help me learn how to teach art. I pulled out some files and tried a project with the kids today. We did "Money Plants." The kids followed the example and drew their own picture and then colored them. I LOVE the results and how each picture reflects the child who created it.

Here's a picture of a real money plant.

A Week in the Life of the Johnsons

Ever wished there were more hours in the day?! Now that school has started, I am not able to get as many things accomplished and the blog has had to wait. So here I am, catching up once again!

Here are Caroline and Kyle doing the Pledge of Allegiance with their preschool class at our homeschool co-op.

Erica is enlisting as a Confederate soldier!
Here are the soldiers, putting on their "mean" faces.
Trevor is pulling up on everything these days. We finally took some things out of the garage for him to play with. This is one of his favorites!
The kids started Awana last week too! It was Caroline's first time in Cubbies. She was all smiles!
Here's Kyle with other experienced Cubbies - leading the group in something - I'm not sure what!
Gail came to visit on Saturday night after a long summer of being away. She brought Kyle a birthday present!

Greg and I were able to go to the Puyallup Fair again for an amazing concert with Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith! We had some scones, bought the kids some cotton candy and rode the roller coaster too! On Saturday, Kyle attended a birthday party for a preschool buddy from last year, Aiden. Here are the Transformers!

Then on Sunday, Caroline went to a birthday party for her little friend, Hannah! It was Caroline's first party without her siblings and she had a wonderful time! She was so excited to arrive, that she ran out of the van, with present in hand, all the way to their front door!
Doggie, Doggie, Where's My Bone?

Last night we put Erica's hair in a bunch of little tiny buns to see if it would be curly this morning. It worked and she loved it! We forgot to take a picture this morning!
At co-op today, Erica heard from these Civil War actors all about the war! Amazing!
Here she is being Clara Barton and putting a bandage on a friend.
Trevor took a ride in my little cart today at co-op!

Do the Puyallup!

"You can do it at a trot, you can do it at a gallup, you can do it real slow so your heart won't palpitate...just don't be late...
Those of you from around here probably know the song! It was played over and over again from the loudspeakers while we were at the fair on Thursday so it's embedded in our brains for a few days now! We had a great time doing the Puyallup this year. It's become a tradition for us to go each year and we love it! We somehow spent nine hours at the fair and still don't feel like we saw it all!

Here are the kids watching a cow being milked.

Here's a sleepy mama pig......these are her baby piglets!

Erica was brave enough to pet this goat before he went in to be shown in a contest.
The kids love sitting on the huge tractors!

Here's Erica in the petting farm with Suzie the Sheep. Choo choo!!!!!!!!!!
Vroooooom
Wheeeeeeeee!
This is the end of an Elephant Ear, being enjoyed by all!

Erica and Caroline went on this little roller coaster and had a great time! Kyle was standing with me and before they were done on their ride, decided that he wanted to go on it as well! We let Caroline ride it again with him.

Face painting!

This is what you do when you are 10 months old and you have only had about a 30 minute morning nap. You ride around in the stroller being happy all day until about 4pm when you finally decide you've had it and you want more sleep! Unfortunately, this nap only lasted another 30 minutes or so, but Trevor was a very happy baby the entire day!

Erica in the Fun House

Kyle's favorite pasttime. He had a blast flying this airplane!
Kyle and Caroline enjoyed the boats!
Here we are getting ready for the Human Cannonball!

A few videos for you to enjoy...

This was amazing!

Erica, Kyle and I went down the Giant Slide. SO fun!
Kyle and Caroline were so cute driving their #1 car! They were faithful to turn their steering wheels at every turn!
The kids love going on this train every year!

First Day of School!

Monday was the first day of our new Homeschool Co-op. We meet right down the street - literally less than 2 minutes away! Here are the kids, excited to be going finally!
Here's Erica in her class as she listens so intently to whatever her teacher was saying!
Here are Kyle and Caroline with their preschool class!
Even though I've been doing some school work with Erica, I decided that we needed an official start to our school year. After breakfast, Greg had the kids go out through the garage to "help him find the newspaper" and they came back in via the front door to the house, where they found their teacher and our classroom sign!We have traditionally had a special cake on the first day of school and the last, so today was no different!

I think Trevor would have really eaten this, had we let him! What better way to spend an hour after doing school work than to go to the local park on a gorgeous Northwest day?!
